We love a good adventure, which is why it was so exciting when Erica & Chris mentioned they wanted to take a road trip up the secluded Redwood Coast to explore Fern Canyon for their engagement session. Fern Canyon is an amazing spot, tucked away in the ancient redwood forest of extreme northern CA. A quiet creek has carved out the canyon over eons, and a lush covering of giant ferns cover the canyon walls, which at some points tower as high as 80ft overhead. The whole area is so prehistoric looking it’s not hard to imagine a dinosaur lurking among the giant ferns, or a perplexed scientist saying something like “This shouldn’t be here. . . Alan, this species of veriforman’s been extinct since the Cretaceous period. . .”
In addition to the amazing location, Erica & Chris are just plain nice, generous and fun-loving people. They traversed the logs, stream, mosquitos and some unexpected surprises with ease and laughter and made this afternoon such a fun and enjoyable adventure.
