We have to say that we love Kansas City and we love shooting weddings there. I (Derren) grew up in KC, and there’s always been a special place in my heart for this great city. Katie (of Katie & Corey) also grew up here, and it was so awesome to be able to meet Katie & Corey back in KC and to capture them both getting ready for their day in the home where Katie spent much of her time growing up. It was a very hot and humid day, but Katie & Corey are so easy and relaxed that we soon forgot about the heat ourselves. Both of their families and all of their friends showed so much love and support for them throughout this celebration, and we feel grateful that we were able to be there to capture it. Congratulations you guys! Enjoy!

We’re so excited to share this one with you today! Mike & Mallory are two very special people. They really welcomed us into their lives and their day in such an awesome way, and we were so grateful to be there to not only capture it all, but to also celebrate with them as new friends. It’s easy to see the seeds of a lasting marriage in the ways that Mallory & Mike communicate, respect each other, give each other some tough love, and above all–have fun. Their personalities burst through in so many moments during this day in such a wonderful way, and it was so much fun to capture. This was a special day that we feel lucky to have been a part of. Congrats you two! We’re seriously going to hit you up for burritos and hang-out time as often as we can any time we’re in San Fran! Enjoy!

p.s. We would also like to give a shout out to Mike Varel, cinematographer extraordinare! We couldn’t have asked for a kinder or more creative guy to partner with during Mike and Mallory’s day.

Monica and Rusty were so sweet and invited us into their home to hang out for a few minutes before we started their session. They live near a picturesque corner in one of the coolest little neighborhoods in St. Louis, and we really only had to walk down the streets and alleyways near their home to find an abundance of interesting spots. Usually part of what we do is to help our couples feel relaxed, laugh, and feel comfortable interacting. But, Monica and Rusty were so at ease from the start, and Rusty just kept on making us laugh (Monica included), that they were really the ones putting us at ease. These guys are awesome, it’s easy to see how well they work together, and we really can’t wait to be a part of their wedding later this Summer! Enjoy.

Stephanie and Jordan are both incredibly sweet with a great sense of humor. We are also a little (ok, terribly) jealous of their super hip mid century modern house, complete with green house and atrium (no joke!). Not only was their wedding really meaningful and an awesome celebration, it also yielded one of the most memorable wedding moments we’ve experienced. It had been raining and storming on and off all morning, and by the time the ceremony rolled around the skies had darkened up quite a bit. Stephanie and Jordan had just finished up saying their vows–Jordan spoke, “and this is my solemn vow,” and at that very moment a huge crash of thunder rumbled through the sanctuary. They both looked at each other with a bit of stupefaction, and then out at the crowd, and then everyone erupted in a startled laughter. Definitely felt like we weren’t the only ones witnessing this commitment. . . The officiant said he was taking it as a good omen. We are too. Congratulations to these two, who we are certain have many years of happiness and laughter to come. Enjoy!
