Here we are at the start of another week, and we’re really excited to share another recent shoot with you all. This was such a beautiful day, and we had so much fun spending the afternoon with Dan and Katie. They have such a pleasant, and even jolly disposition as a couple, and it was so easy to capture them just being themselves. They were so sweet and invited us out to have malts after our shoot at a famous old local confectionary/ice cream parlor (we felt like we stepped into a 1950’s double date, in the best, most nostalgic way possible). Dan & Katie are the best, and shooting their wedding a little bit later this Spring is going to be so much fun. Thank you guys for an awesome afternoon, and for the delicious malts! Enjoy.
Well, today is of course St. Valentine’s day. Our posting of an engagement session on this day in particular was not intentional, but it is certainly fitting. Alix & Dion are such an amazing pair, and we seriously could not have gotten a more beautiful day for their session. Also, with a couple as natural, easy, and as fun to be around as Alix & Dion, our afternoon was more like a fun field trip with friends to the park and the beach than it was a photo session. In the process we got a few grass stains, feet got wet, and sand in shoes was abundant, which is all to say that we had an awesome time. Alix & Dion, you guys are awesome, and we are counting down the days until we head back out for your wedding. Enjoy!
We just think it is so cool that Mike and Mallory get to live in San Francisco, one of our favorite cities in the world! We’ve had so many great trips here, and have so many fond memories of adventures in the city. This is why we were so excited when Mallory and Mike invited us to come shoot them in their own neighborhood, right in the heart of the Mission District. We actually met Mike and Mallory in person for the first time in Kansas City, of all places. We were so impressed with their energy and fun attitudes, and we’ve been anxious to get to spend some more time with them ever since. They were kind enough to give us a tour of sorts of their small corner of the city, including an introduction to one of their favorite burrito shops. This day was so much fun, and added so many fun experiences to a city that is already full of pleasant memories for us! We’re really looking forward to being with you guys again at your wedding later this year!
Staci & Matt are seriously the sweetest couple. And to top off how awesome they are, they agreed to meet us in Encinitas for this shoot (which is one of our favorite spots in North County San Diego). One especially fun aspect of this session was that Staci arranged for Matt’s son to show up to the shoot as a surprise. She was excited to get some shots of them all together as a family. Matt was completely surprised, so obviously Staci did a great job pulling everything off–so much fun! After that we moved on into downtown Encinitas to capture some moments of just Staci and Matt together. We really just couldn’t get enough of them–they are such a genuinely joyful and nice couple. We are seriously big Staci and Matt fans, and we can’t wait to shoot their wedding in San Diego this summer. Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon!
Being able to be a part of this wedding day was especially meaningful for us because we go way back with Kevin and Allison. They are both such bright and generous people, and we were really there to celebrate with them just as much as we were there to document and retell the story of their day.
Newport is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been–simply enchanting. And two beautiful sunny days bookended their wedding day. The wedding day itself, however, presented some of the most challenging weather conditions we’ve had to face while shooting. This could have been a real bummer, but Kevin and Allison took everything in stride, and honestly, their joy and warmth only just seemed to increase as the day got colder, wetter and more windy. We found ourselves all laughing together at the wind, the cold, and at the number of umbrellas the groom himself had blow inside out before the reception even began.
This day was so full of joy, and we felt so moved and so grateful to be able to be there. Allie & Kevin, just to let you know, we’re coming back to visit you guys soon! We loved Newport, and you both are two awesome friends! Congratulations again.
