We recently shared some of our favorite moments from Emily & Aaron’s awesome wedding. Not only did we get to spend the day hanging with them for their wedding, we also got to come back the next day and have them all to ourselves all afternoon! Such a fun way to wind down from the busyness of the previous day. Thanks you guys for being so open to trying out all of our ideas–we had so much fun!

Lisa and Ian live in one of the coolest little nooks in Chicago, and we ended up meeting them outside of their apartment down in the Lincoln Park area, where we planned to do some walking before we headed down to the lakefront. Chicago is such an interesting and vibrant city, and we love shooting there. We also love fun and playful attitudes, and Lisa and Ian’s faces were covered with a smile from about the moment we started until we parted ways back out in front of their apartment later on that night. We feel that laughter is such an essential ingredient in the enjoyment of life and in lasting relationships, and Lisa and Ian had this in abundance. It was such a pleasure to get to know you guys and to go exploring with you both, and we’re so excited for your wedding in the summer!

One thing that we absolutely love about our job is that we get to meet so many amazing people. Also, an incredible extension of that is that after we shoot a wedding not only do we have a really fun and meaningful day to remember and look back on, we often also have a pair of amazing new friends as well!

With that said, we had already been fortunate enough to be able to hang out with Brian and Sarah in Chicago after their engagement shoot, and being a part of this incredible day was so beautiful and meaningful for us. They are two wonderfully sweet and thoughtful people, and it was so awesome to hear their friends, family, and mentors stand up and give testament not only to their love, faith and growth together, but also to the promise of strong and loving support from their community of family and friends.

Weddings like these, and people like Brian & Sarah are precisely why we love what we do. We had a blast being a part of this day, and we’re so excited to have two new, newly wed friends to visit when we’re in Chicago! Congrats you two! Enjoy!

We like surprises. And, though this surprise wasn’t for us, we loved it all the same. Mallory contacted us a while back to let us know that she was planning a special surprise trip to St. Louis for her husband Jerry to celebrate their very first anniversary. Neither one of them had really explored the city before, and Jerry a) had no idea they were taking a trip, b) as a result didn’t know where they were going, and c) didn’t know that WE would be waiting for them, cameras in hand, when they arrived. . . literally a few moments after they stepped out of the car!

Mallory pulled this all off magnificently (Jerry was actually surprised on all 3 counts), and playing our small role in this plan was so much fun. We also have to mention that Mallory is a talented photographer in her own right (she makes her living capturing weddings and the world through her camera lens in their home state of Kentucky–please go view all her awesomeness here), and we can’t say how honored we were that she would ask us to capture such a special milestone for them.

Thank you so much for including us in this very special clandestine anniversary plan Mallory! We had so much fun exploring with you guys, and can’t wait to do it all again next year (wink inserted here)!! Enjoy!

Ok. So there are weddings, and then there are down-home parties in the backyard of your longtime family home with all of your friends and neighbors there to celebrate with you. Emily and Aaron’s day was a wedding, of course, but really it was mostly the latter, in the best and most seriously fun and awesome way possible. Aaron’s parents had offered to chop down the corn surrounding the house to plant a less obtrusive crop (like soy beans) for the background of their outdoor chapel, but they decided on leaving it up, and what an amazing backdrop it made (great choice guys!).

We are also always totally honored and excited when we get to work with fellow photographers (we love it in fact!). Emily has an awesome wedding photography business of her own in Southern California (be sure to check out her wonderful work HERE), and we had so much fun getting to know her and Aaron and letting them be on the other end of the camera for a change.

Thank you so much for letting us join in on the party you two! This day was one of a kind. Congratulations, and enjoy!
